American Indian Cultural Resource Center (AICRC)
The American Indian Cultural Resource Center (AICRC) promotes cultural identity development and strives to empower American Indian students through their college careers. By providing resources, activities that enhance leadership skills, educational events and ongoing development of the space, the AICRC encourages the sharing of ideas and experiences of all backgrounds, which imparts a greater understanding of our culture(s) to one another and the campus community.
American Indian and Indigenous Collective/Studies Center
The American Indian and Indigenous Studies (AIIS) and affiliated programs at the University of California Santa Barbara honors this history by centering Chumash communities and incorporating Indigenous peoples and issues from around the world in the development of a rigorous, innovative, and intersectional American Indian and Indigenous Studies curriculum, research center, learning and living center, and a dynamic programming agenda that engages the campus and surrounding communities.
Minor in Indigenous Studies
(Department of Religious Studies)
The American Indigenous and Indian Studies Minor allows students to explore the culture and traditions of the American Native peoples. The Minor focuses on the issues facing native populations today and recognizes the importance of all aspects of native culture. Students can find relevant courses in almost every department. Minor required courses and unit counts must be completed by the final quarter and students must meet with there sponsoring department for approval.
American Indian Student Support Services
Members of the American Indian Student Support Services aims to increase student retention through culturally contextualized and individualized approaches. The American Indian Student Support Services provide culturally enriched retention support for Native American students enrolled at UC Santa Barbara, and work with partners across campus and tribes/reservations/schools across California with prospective Native American students.
Native American & Indigenous Studies Association
The Native American and Indigenous Studies Association (NAISA) is an interdisciplinary, international membership-based organization, comprised of any scholars working in the fields of Native American and Indigenous Studies, broadly defined. NAISA has become the premier international and interdisciplinary professional organization for scholars, graduate students, independent researchers, and community members interested in all aspects of Indigenous Studies.
