UCSB will consider an applicant's second choice major when space is available. Students applying for majors the College of Engineering or in the College of Creative Studies are encouraged to choose an alternate major in the College of Letters & Science.
College of Letters and Science (L&S)
The College of Letters and Science is the largest college at UC Santa Barbara with over 80 majors and across over 45 departments. The college offers professional advisers, student peer advisers, and specialized advising for students interested in medical or legal careers. There are also academic advisors in every department and program in the college.

Robert Mehrabian College of Engineering (COE)
The Robert Mehrabian College of Engineering is consistently ranked among the top engineering programs in the world. The college offers five undergraduate majors and the Technology Management Program, a certificate program for undergraduates interested in business principles and entrepreneurship. Small class sizes and cutting-edge research are hallmarks of the college.
College of Creative Studies (CCS)
The College of Creative Studies offers nine majors in a small academic community ideal for self-directed students. The college providing a rigorous, accelerated program facilitating original undergraduate work. If you want to create new knowledge in your field, this college may be for you.
