December 2025 Counselor Newsletter

Message from the Director

Greetings Counseling Friends!

As we approach the end of 2025, I want to express my sincere appreciation for your questions, insights, and partnership throughout the year. I love working with you to support students on their journey to finding a University
that is their right fit.

The Admissions team wishes you a safe and healthy holiday season. May you find time to
be with friends and family. May the break allow you time to recharge, relax and recuperate
from a busy fall season.

What you need to know from UCSB Admissions:

  • Fall 2026 Application Closed: Updates to the UC application are limited to personal information and updates to testing. This all happens in the UC application.
  • Change of Major Requests: At UCSB, change of major requests an be submitted via email to admissions@ucsb.edu. A student should list their full name and UC application ID in the subject line. First-year students have until the end of December; transfer students have until the end of the January to email their requests.
  • First-Year Academic Updates: First-year students cannot update their academic record at this time. UCSB requests updates after admissions decisions are posted in March.
  • TAU Submissions (Transfer Academic Updates): The TAU opens December 15. Transfer applicants must report fall grades and confirm spring schedules by January 31. Additional TAU's can be submitted through March 15.
  • Counselor Webinars: Thank you for submitting webinar topics. We are developing spring workshops based on your requests. Our calendar will be posted in January. You can continue to make webinar requests, use the link on the Counselor Resource page.
  • Holiday Closures: The Office of Admissions will close from December 22, 2025 - January 2, 2026. We will resume regular operations on Monday, January 5, 2026.

From all of us at UC Santa Barbara, we wish you a joyful, safe, and healthy holiday season.
