August 2025 Counselor Newsletter

A Message from the Director

Welcome back! Summer may have been short, but I hope you found moments to relax and recharge. There are many changes at UCSB. We have a new Chancellor, Dr. Dennis Assanis; he starts September 1st. Additionally, the College of Engineering is now the Robert Mehrabian College of Engineering; nothing has changed in terms of majors or admission selection.

The Admissions team spent the last two months updating and expanding our resources to support you and your students. The Fall 2026 UC Application Playlist is ready for you to watch and share, and based on your feedback, we have created a brand new playlist, the UC PIQ Playlist. Download, then share these wonderful resources for both freshman and transfer applicants. The links are below.

Every year brings new challenges, and this fall, we are facing one of our own: We’re short-staffed. That means we’ll have fewer opportunities to travel across the state and visit schools in-person. To stay connected, we’ll be hosting more virtual high school visits and transfer one-on-one appointments. Request a virtual visit by emailing us, admissions@ucsb.edu.

We truly value your patience, flexibility, and more importantly, your partnership. UCSB’s Office of Admissions team is here to support you. Call or email us if you have any questions. Thank you for all the work you do every day. Let’s get the year started!
